My Auto

An autobiography, written in my favor
Has been deleted from the days of yore
Instead they have shed light upon my downfalls
Now I need shades everywhere I go

I am restless; sleep has become a dream
Noise and distortion are pulsing in my brain
Creating a feedback that helps me redeem
The peace and tranquility that keeps me ingrained

Skeleton Key

She said, "When I was little the world it seemed so big."
He said, "When you were little, I was little too."
She laughed, "You're such a tease, are you hitting on me?"
He cried, "Bartender please, I need another drink."
Each day
That I feel older
I wish that I could sleep a little longer
Either way
I get cold shoulders
I wish that I could sleep

Everyone relaxing in their private compartments
Looking out the window from a stable environment
The silent watchman makes his rounds and rings a silver bell
I've got so many keys but none that unlock this cell

Phone rings in the next apartment
People laugh and talk for hours
Radio sings songs of commitment
Girls and sex and fast cars
A strong wind will blow away this slumber
I try to make it stay
Sunshine, open up the window
Breathe in and fly away
Each day
That I feel older
I wish that I could sleep a little longer
Either way
I get cold shoulders
I wish that I could sleep

What'd you say? Oh nothing
Just talking to my self and mumblin'

Steps

With the back of my hand on your cheek let me speak oh fair maiden. If a gallant young man took your hand while I slept well I'd never sleep again, I said. And I haven't slept since then. You know my name, you stole my girl, but I love you just the same. Well who cares, so I pushed myself back down the stairs. And although, I hit my head on the stairs below I know, I will climb back up again. By the bye. I'm going to need a long time, long enough to hang my self. Stretch it out unwind. Do whatever helps. Mark it in your daily planner, in your diary before you go to bed, that long ago when you were older, you knew my name, you stole my girl, but I love you just the same. But I love you just the same. By the bye. For crying out loud I'm loosing faces. I'm cruising for a bruising and I'm loosing faces. I've got a taste for blood on my lips, stench in my nostrils, and you. But you said who cares. So I pushed myself back down the stairs. And although, I hit my head on the stairs below I know, I will climb back up again. By the bye. Like the carpetbagger in my bed, while I'm still on the linoleum floor. I told him I was getting off at the next stop, but he didn't move so I had to stay on till we made it downtown made a loop and turned around. So I said fellow, you know my name, you stole my girl, but I love you just the same. He said who cares. So I pushed myself back down the stairs. And although, I hit my head on the stairs below I know, I will climb back up again. But I'm going to need a long time, long enough to hang my self. Stretch it out unwind. What ever makes you happy. By the bye.

Dreamboat

Do not provoke me I'm very unstable
When people are drinking
They never think twice
You bitch there I said it
Now are you satisfied
Bitch there I go again
I could never lie
To you

From her apartment I ran like a panty hose
Down the stairs through the hall out the door to the road
I skid to the ground as the garbage truck drove away
Along with my confidence she trashed yesterday

Listen up you boys
Be on your best behavior
Your dreamboat is here
And I wouldn't exchange her for
Another

Just in case you're wondering whom I'm speaking of
She lives in side your phone machine and sleeps in your bed
And when you least expect it she grabs your hand
She beats your beating heart and slaps you upside your head

Listen up you boys
Be on your best behavior
Your dreamboat is here
And I wouldn't exchange her for
Another

I call her once a month just to make sure she's okay
We go out and have some fun then call it a day
If I try to call her more than once I never get my say
So that is why I am giving up and giving her away

Listen up you boys
Be on your best behavior
Your dreamboat is here
And I wouldn't exchange her for
Another

Never Thirsty

The label on my beer said free prize inside
So I put it in my mouth and I sucked the bottle dry
I was happy and content but when I looked in
It said "Sorry not a winner, please try again."
I grabbed another beer and yelled double or nothing
Happy and content I started to sing
About my first love when I kissed her
She tasted just like whiskey
There's something I'm forgetting
Well maybe she wasn't with me

If I didn't happen to have a hole in my throat
I probably wouldn't drink so much
Later when we're married we'll laugh about this
And probably be more drunk

I scratched out your number on the boys washroom stall
So that no on could call you for free
Someday you'll have to tell your boyfriend about us
Please, just leave out the part about me
Sucking face with a shot glass is better than you anyway
I just called to tell you how I'm doing
Sorry not a winner please try again
Happy and content, the world starts to spin

If I didn't happen to have a hole in my throat
I probably wouldn't drink so much
Later when we're married we'll laugh about this
And probably be more drunk

Roll On

The heart defined by poets and songwriters
As of late has been distorted
True love doesn't exist anymore
And maybe it never did
By metaphors we can ignore true feelings
The truth escapes so slow
If love were like a simile
I'd probably never know
Because when the closing credits roll
The lead role is still alone

Cowboy

Lets go out to the country
Let go and give me your hand
Take me away from the city
To live off the fat of the land
Away to a land called Wisconsin
As if all you people did care
So long it's been good to know you
Soon I will breathe in fresh air
This is a perfect new nest home
A plot fit for promising growth
For cows pigs chickens and horses
Barley wheat corn hay and oat
Away from the bright lights and bustle
I've never seen stars shine so bright
I can't wait to be a part of nature
Beautiful peaceful and quiet
I wake up at four in the morning
I hope I get used to it soon
I drink all the time because my back hurts
Under the light of the moon
I pictured me riding a tractor
And you in the garden for hours
Finally being self sufficient
And children to milk all the cows
Lets go back to the city
Away from this farm and its weeds
To stores that contain all necessities
And money is all that we need

Long Ago

Well the clouds were bridesmates and the North Star was the best man
At the marriage of the sun and moon
Seven days later the earth was conceived
When the dish ran away with the spoon

Sadly it ended in divorce
Because the sun got a little too hot
When they made a settlement for the earth
The sun cast the shorter lot

The moon lost its shine when it started to drink
As the sun moved its distance away
With a longing for visitation rights
Lasting longer than half a day

Buy Me

Good byes are cheep and sold to me
Because they are all that I can afford
More or less I sleep in a cold dream
On a bed of lost reward
It has been an eternity with no advance
I'll see you sometime after work
For another miss opportunity to dance
With the duchess of New York
We could talk about apartments work CTA
Movies books or future plans
With my immature comments on lesbians gays
And music you should hear this new band
The phone machine that I hate will tell me your gone
But the ID will leave you a clue
Or I'll talk to your roommate for 30 seconds long
I speak with her more than I do with you
There's nothing for you to proof read I've nothing left to say
I've already told you too much
For now I'll just proceed to practice everyday
And maybe Wendy will shut up
It is still hard to love I don't know why
Maybe I'll change when someone new
Is sent from above or falls from the sky
I won't forget to introduce her to you

Remembrance

Forgive and remember
That I am the great pretender
And I won't be back to rescue you
From coffee, vodka, Mountain Dew
Joe Camel and the Marlboro Man
Have eloped from TV land
They're making whoopee inside your lung
But don't be sad, you're not the only pun
There's more to come
